Short answer

Catch three unique fish in each of six clock states: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Night 1, Night 2, and Night 3. After the eighteenth valid catch, leave the fishing pole to unlock I Want To Be A Fisherman; a key then appears on the fishing paper used by the Timesville secret.

When to do it: Complete the collection while Timesville remains explorable and before committing to the late story transition. It is especially important on an Ending C route.

What you need: The fishing pole, access to the beach/fishing spot, and the ability to change the Timesville clock through all three day and three night positions.

Missable or risky: Potentially. The chapter can move beyond the area, so finish the list and collect the key before leaving Timesville for good.

Confirmed details

Day 1 contains Nautilus, Colisa Lalia, and Jantic Fish. Day 2 contains Peter Panini, Seahorse, and Singin' Fish. Day 3 contains Eel, Reddest Fish Ever, and Sea Man.

Night 1 contains Pirate, Skele-Fish, and RC Ship. Night 2 contains Crab, Starfish, and Big Worm. Night 3 contains Drawing of a Fish, Jelly, and Crate.

The blurred head labeled with question marks is not one of the 18 required entries. Catching it does not replace a missing fish from a clock window.

This page separates documented requirements from route advice. Names, achievement conditions, platform details, and item counts are checked against the linked Steam records; navigation is cross-checked against recorded gameplay. If an update changes a room, prompt, or trigger, use the verification note below before assuming the save is broken.

Step-by-step solution

Step 1 — Set the clock to Day 1, fish until Nautilus, Colisa Lalia, and Jantic Fish are recorded, and note the three names before changing time.

Step 2 — Repeat at Day 2 for Peter Panini, Seahorse, and Singin' Fish, then at Day 3 for Eel, Reddest Fish Ever, and Sea Man.

Step 3 — Switch to Night 1 and catch Pirate, Skele-Fish, and RC Ship. Continue to Night 2 for Crab, Starfish, and Big Worm.

Step 4 — At Night 3, catch Drawing of a Fish, Jelly, and Crate. Recheck the paper/list for one entry in every named slot rather than relying on memory.

Step 5 — Leave the fishing pole after all 18 are registered. Wait for the achievement, then inspect the fishing paper and take the key before advancing the secret route.

Common failures and softlock risks

Duplicate catches do not advance the collection. If the achievement does not fire, compare names by clock state; the missing entry is usually in a window that was changed too early.

Do not count the question-mark catch. The verified requirement is the 18 named fish, three per clock state.

The achievement may appear when you exit the fishing interaction, not on the exact catch frame. Leave the pole cleanly before treating it as bugged.

Recovery rule: stop before crossing another chapter boundary. Confirm the current objective, cycle every usable inventory item, and retry the interaction from a clean room entry. If the trigger still fails, close the game before restoring a known-good save; copying or replacing live save files while the game is open can overwrite the recovery state.

Version and verification

The names and six time groups were checked against the launch-week Steam fishing guide and the Steam description for I Want To Be A Fisherman: 'Caught every fish.'

Last verified: July 31, 2026, against the launch PC build, Steam achievement records, linked Steam Community guides, and recorded full-game footage. Endacopia can vary some puzzle clues between runs, so follow the clue in your own save when this page explains a method instead of a fixed answer.
